To get rid of tons of asian, arabic, oriental fonts takes ages by hand.
This script I've made for my Debian 10, removes:

When you have a long path in the prompt, only few characters could be left to write the command before going on the next line.

With this prompt instead, the command starts from a new line regardless of the path length.

Tar: How to speed up tar preventing seek especially with many small files

I've faced this problem archiving a dir with around 50.000 images that are 100k each or less. It used to take more than 5 minutes to archive all those files in a .tar because of the massive seek of the HDD heads.
This happens because the tar command has basically zero buffer so the heads are moved back and forth for every file.

Do you think tab indentation gives more freedom and consumes less space on HD?
Do you hate to spend time converting tabs to space indentation for publishing on your dokuwiki?

jQuery: swap elements at any distance without losing events

This function allows you to swap 2 elements in the DOM, in the same container, regardless of how many other elements are in between, and without losing the events attached to the swapped elements. It works in any direction, left to right, right to left, top to bottom, bottom to top, and mixed.
Before getting to this solution I've done lots of experiments and I can state that nothing can beat this in simplicity.

In case with smartctl you notice that the load/unload cycles counter increases very rapidly, there is a way to decrease that with hdparm.

E.g. for sda:

sudo hdparm -B 254 /dev/sda

This setting is retained after at reboot.
